I think we should stick to Wow Philippines. Wow is a word that captures all the five senses. It's the simplest expression both the formally and non-formally educated understand. It's also very universal, adopted and adapted by different languages.



But most importantly, slogan is only a component of place branding. We should reassess our country before we put on a lot of slogans. I already try to do my part in helping promote the Philippines in writing about it and answering legitimate questions of travelers wanting to visit the islands. And I agree, every Filipinos should do their part.



My take, if it ain't broke why fix it? The slogan is not the problem here, it is what foreigners have to contend with when they do visit....such as the airport, the infastracture, safety and security and the scammers.

I ain't saying that it could be understood by all people abroad but it's way more popular than that "kay ganda". If promoting our language is what DOT really wants, it's easier to popularize this since quite many foreigners already understand this. The word "mabuhay" also somehow reflects how hospitable, fun-loving, and positive we are as a people. Besides, Filipinos in general really make the Philippines worth visiting.

I think that "WOW Philippines" is still the best tag/campaign slogan for the country...Very deep meaning...impressive even in a 4-year old child...Why should the DOT change the brand/slogan? Why not changing their (DOT) style, with no such innovations how they could make Philippines familiar to the world...Phuket is somewhat the same with Coron, Palawan; but why is it so interesting? A 3.5 M target of DOT for arrival in 2011 is too weak indicating their capacity..whereas tourist in Paris alone reached 50M a year, Barcelona also...the target should be leveled to the highest possible arrival considering neighbors (Thai, Malaysia, Viet, Indo, Sing) as we have much to offer compare to them. So if not on that possibility, at least we will be receiving near target...that the Philippines would be the prime SEA destination...The problem is that, Gov't officials esp in higher positions don't satisfy with their salaries. They liked doing projects (commissions they received from contractors etc., buy three get one strategy). As a result, projects such as roads last only for 3 years...I think "WOW Philippines" is still strong, the Filipino people are hard-working, the Philippines is rich in natural resources making it as mega diverse country; but the Government is weak and poor...I love my country and I want to invest my professionalism to it; but the form of Government drives me to work overseas.

i tried to reach a DOT web site to give a proposal, with the sole objective to help, unfortunately their sites do not allow any message exchange with the public. It seems that tourism has become a very private matter or a simple dead-locked PO box for fortunate people.

Anyway, my proposal was to be more international as the DOT targetted potential tourists are essentially foreigners. My suggestion was to come back to the more classic 3Ps, a combination of Philippines Pacific's Pearl, embedded in a one letter P only, associated with additional trios in smaller caption like "Seas-Sun-Smile", "Fun-Food-Friends" and "Affordable-Amazing-Adventure", in order to depict, first, the main aces that this country can offer, secondly, the main extraordinary sides of the Filipino People and way of life, and finally to put an accent on some more recent foreign desire for cheaper vacations while offering novelties coming out of the ancient woods, like thrilling sportive attractions which are now offered often on higher grounds that have no seashore to offer. The actual lingering economical crisis abroad together with the increasing public reluctance to air travel due to higher safety inconveniences request affordable travel costs and accomodations that this country can afford to offer.
