what we have in the philippines is that value added tax(vat). it is already included in the tag price of items sold in the philippines. unlike in america, this tax is not added on to the price but is only used by the establishment being taxed when it computes the input and output vat.

Hi. The sales tax you may be referring to would be the value added tax in the Philippines. As previously mentioned, that has been raised from 10% to 12% a bit recently. Due to the increase, stores sometimes itemized the receipt to show what the actual product costs and how much of the purchase price goes to taxes. Take note that in some areas, due to the deregularization of local government units, some cities may charge an additional amount for city taxes (about 1-3%).

Delivery charge varies on the location but if its in Metro-Manila, most of the big stores offer a limited coverage area and usually charge P200 for such. Hope this helps.

Philippines confirms sales tax rate hike on Feb 1

MANILA, Jan 31 (Reuters) - Philippine Finance Secretary Margarito Teves said on Tuesday the government will raise the sales tax rate to 12 percent from 10 percent on Feb. 1, as planned, to bring in more revenues and cut the budget deficit.

VAT (Value added tax) = 12% , delivery varies from store to store.

Take care.

12 % valued added tax (vat) and the delivery charges will depend upon the distance. most cases, delivirey charge is free but it will depend upon the boundery where you buy the uniit.

10% before, but thanks to IMF lackeys Gloria and Raffy Recto it has been 12% since Jan 2005.

Delivery charges depend on the distance and the store from where you bought it. A bit fo advice, buy it from the mall nearest your place.
