Yes, although they have been severely reduced in numbers, they are still lingering around mountainous areas.. They have their own courts and murder people who doesn't pay or that they think abuses other people while overlooking their own faults..
The Philippines is a really small country but the government cannot seem to eliminate them once and for all..
They get their funding from their sympathizers and from extorting business and people to pay them in what they call "revolutionary taxes." I knew of someone who went back to the Philippines for a vacation coming from the US. The rebels heard about him and immediately sent out a letter asking him for 20,000 pesos.. He just left and went to Manila since he was just there to visit his wife's relatives.. This was in one of the provinces.. Also, they are getting their weapons and supplies from the government's military because high officials sell out weapons.. (so ironic).. It was the cause why there were some soldiers who revolted against the government.. It may be why they are still around.. When Joseph Estrada was president, they were on their way to be all eliminated but now, they have grown..

Yes, there are thousands of them but they just don't kill anybody they saw......their usual targets are politicians and businessmen who doesn't give blood money.......don't worry about them.......as long as you haven't done anything wrong to other people or in the society, they will not touch you.....they're against bad people too......

Yes, they are less heard of lately, possibly a strategy. they thrive in the sierra madre mountains which spans several provinces in Luzon.

yes, the leftist movement is still active but their presence is no longer as strong as before. many of their strong leaders had either died in combat or had returned to the folds of the government as part of the amnesty program.
