The size of the balikbayan box helps in putting all the things you plan to bring with you when coming home to the Philippines and it's the only box size allowed by Customs at the airport.

its easier because you can send more pasalubongs and then don't have to worry about over-weight baggage fees!!

Actually this is a good question. Whenever I go the Philippines I always take two suite cases. One has my personal stuff and the the other one full of gift etc...I always end up with an empty bag that I end up leaving there or bring back empty with less items than what I took in the first place. hahahah...Maybe next time I should consider a Balibayan Box for sure ince I wouldn't need to bring it back with me...Thanks for making it click!

Been doing that for a couple of years. Always picking up boxes at the last moment, buying ropes and masking tapes, printing labels and pasting my name and address on every side. And then, find either I forgot something to put inside, and have to redo the whole thing, or - at the airport, find I'm over the weight limit, and have to pay extra!



This time, I'll either BUY A SUITCASE with in-built wheels and retractable puller. (Or, look around dumpsites for the same thing for free!) Thanks for this Question! Of course, I can't guarantee you I wont revert to my old habit.

Because one is allowed to bring 2 balikbayan boxes.

coz it's convenient & practical...and could actually hold more "pasalubongs" (give-away souvenirs)...so after use, it can be thrown away.

Because a Balikbayan Box is the most convenient and practical of all. It loads up all your pasalubongs effectively with less chances of breakage.
