My mom and brother are in the Philippines and I asked them to buy me some genuine dvds (20 at most). Will they get in trouble at the airport if they put them in their luggage. Not their carry ons,

If she gets caught it will be trouble for her as all the "Original DVDs" are pirate copies! Use your head & think How can the record companies make the DVDs, ship them here & then sell them for $2 ? I am not saying the DVDs are bad but they are NOT genuine DVDs.

But really there is not much chance of getting caught is she opens the DVDs & writes your name on them so they look used then put them in her check in bags

"Genuine" DVDs? Not pirated? Well, if they are formatted in the Philippines for Philippine DVD Players, they may not work with a DVD Player in the US. Video stores sell 2 kinds. Street vendors will sell you pirated DVDs.

There are tons of pirated DVDs in the US already. Any way you look at it, you are taking a chance.

Your choice.

I don't see this as a problem. If they are worried they can split them up in their check-in luggage, so if they have 2 each, they can put 5 discs per bag.

Now, the problem I see is when you go watch it. If the dvds are set with region locks or if your dvd player isn't a region-free player, then you might not be able to watch any of the discs.

Plus some players only play NTSC or PAL or SECAM or any of those codings. If your player isn't the same code as the disc then it wouldn't play either. Just saying...

There are original DVDs here...

Companies here are licensed by the Copyright owners, studios, whatever you want to call them, to print DVDs here and sell them.....they may not be quality inspected the way they are in the original country (U.S.-UK-Canada whatever) but they are legal, genuine DVDs...

I would never buy from a small or street store expecting them to be GENUINE...go to the bigger stores in the Malls and check for the GENUINE-ORIGINAL sticker on the seal...that is the best you can do since there are so many fakes...

KEEP THE RECEIPT...if they do check at the airport (and I have read in the paper where they have and confiscated the CDs) that receipt could keep you from having to spend hours explaining where you got them.
