Funny that the “dilemma/dilemna” spelling came up. I never had this dilemma until now. I could always turn to quandary and impasse and save myself the headaches.

There's no question that dilemma is the correct spelling. And for those of us who thought it were spelled 'dilemna', we're not alone. It is reassuring to know that others have had this same 'dilemna' as we do.

We may have confused dilemna with words in the same “-mn” grouping, and the same silent-n pronunciation such as 'condemn' and 'column'. And besides “dilemna” is a Latin word which means love, solicitude, esteem. Perhaps this is a generational quirk peculiar to those of us who have been around much longer than most others. lol.

For Pasquale Dilemma this is correct for him. For Anna Dilemna this is correct for her. For most of us does it matter if it is dilemma or dilemna? Although through different eyes it still has the same meaning. The important issue is not if it is dilemma or dilemna is what happens before it becomes a dilemma or dilemna.

"Dilemma" is the correct spelling although my mom would have insisted it's "dilemna." I guess that's what they were taught in school.

In Tagalog, I would probably use the word "Gusot"...as in

"ano ba itong gusot na napasok ko?" Why am I in such a dilemma?

Only one word ends with "mna" and that is alumna.

At sunset and afterwards, "dilemna" is correct. It is no longer "maliwanag" (clear light of day), therefore it is "ma dilem na".
