I personally think that kapamilya and kapuso wars...really hurts filipino artists....
It's really sad, that filipino artists can only advertise so much on one network, and not so much on the other...
They should be free to do whatever they want, to perform on whichever network they want.

And honestly..i don't give a ****...about whose a better network....
because that's how stupidity starts.....

I mean i get that networks can compete....but i've never heard of a network...owning a certain celebrity...and they only act within shows of their network..
that's stupid...not to mention it limits their potential...
just my two cents, anyone else agrees?

that is business....you need competitors

artist have the choice to be exclusive or not depends on the contract they agreed and signed

and for us viewers it is our choice to view who and what we want

I think it's similar to how a musician is the property of his/her label group. Considering how much exposure and money celebrities and networks get from each other, it's sort of understandable that networks want to keep their cash cows by their side as much as possible. It wouldn't be fair if, say, a network invested a lot of resources into putting a new face out there, only to have him/her rake in big box office ratings through another network's movie. That means that while the first company was the one that invested in the actor/actress, another network gets all the profits.

Networks pay for the celeb's image, salary, and all the stuff in between, while celebs rely on the network to get them projects. There's a lot more to show business than the art of entertainment. It's still a business, first and foremost, and like many things in this world, it is primarily driven by money.

Still, you shouldn't feel too bad about it. Artists switch between networks more often than you'd think. To be honest, I don't think it limits their potential at all because both networks have more or less the same types of shows.

I think its a case of exclusivity with regards to programming and marketing that they have the most popular contemporary talents at their pleasure. I think that it doesn't really matter to them who watches their shows but how many people do watch their programs so they can say to the advertisers that a huge chunk of the market, that is the purchasing public, is glued to their channel at a certain time of the day. It's sort of a programming commodity.

I also think you have a point in that they portray themselves as one leading network and the other only as a competitor when there are more players in the industry.

Yes, I agree. But more than the Filipino artists are the people as a nation. It adds to the division of our people. It's as if, being too regionalized is not enough. Good thing though, that TV5 is now putting up a fair fight. The more the merrier.

Business intimidation. Filipino artist don't have the ball to confront the networks in fear of being kick out of limelight.

network rivalry has its advantages and disadvantages. for celebrities it's nice to have a "home". for viewers, the competition will force the networks to give us better shows.

yes and quite disturbing. that is why these stars never gets to be big. they should start naming other channels as katoto, kaklase, kaibigan, kapitbahay, etc etc.
