Question:
Interesting tourism spots/ culture tidbits about Philippines?
?
So I decided to write my informative speech about the Philippines and was wondering if anyone had any ideas as to what I could mention? like what are the best tourism sites, best activities to do?

I was thinking maybe my three main topics would be
1. geography/ tourism sites
2. culture: food, religion, etc.
3. differences between american and filipino culture
( or just anything that makes the philippines or being filipino unique)

I'm not sure if this is good organization though because i have yet to come up with a thesis statement.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated and links would be so great too. Thanks!

I always found it interesting that the buildings from the American occupation have all collapsed or been removed (mostly) whereas the Intramuros, Churches and other legacies from Spain stand proud and strong. You should mention eco-tourism, how pure the environment is there. Diving in the Gulf of Mexico is like a sewer compared to dive sites in the Philippines. The food is a reflection of the culture. Filipinos still sell churros and other Spanish foods as well as Japanese, American. Chinese etc. This country is the king of adaptation, while still remaining proudly distinct. These are some of the happiest people in the world, yet they suffered incredible disasters since the US invasion and occupation in the early 20th century. One can only point to faith and those treasured ancient churches as the source for their strength and resilience in the face of so much adversity. Hope some of that helps your paper.

You might want to mention something about the city! :D

Well, I'm talking about Manila here. In the middle of the bustling city, there lies the "city within a city" which is Intramuros. It was built during the Spanish occupation. It's a walled city. Really different world in there.

And foodtripping is one of the best things to do around Metro Manila. You might want to try Chinatown in Binondo. Or fine dining in Makati's hotels. :)
