Why are there more White Men than White Women that vacation in the Philippines?

Lots of people come to the Philippines for vacation. Doesn't really matter where I see lots of people from all over the world here (USA, Australia, Korea, Japan, India, Saudi, ect.). However, there seems to be a LOT more White Men who travel to the Philippines than White Women. Why is that?

I agree to Eric's answer that there are more men who travel alone than women. But I do not agree to his reply that there is nothing in the Philippines that would interest women. That really depends on what purpose someone is traveling. I have seen all girls tourists in Boracay and in Palawan. It really depends on what is the purpose of travel. A lot of women prefer to go to places where can do a lot of shopping, and compared to Thailand and China, Philippines lagged behind when it comes to that. I notice too that there are more gay men traveling to the Philippines lately.

Okay - the appeal of the Philippines is alot more than just about single women and sex. The Philippines has an appeal which i will describe below - especially to men.



Firstly - I dont think that the Philippines, being a dirty, crime ridden third world country, is the kind of place that alot of white women really want to go for a holiday - you know what i mean?



Many white women would feel intimidated in The Philippines - being very much a male dominated society where women still have traditional roles in the family. In most western countires, those traditional roles for women have pretty much gone out the window. The Philppines has more appeal to men than it does for women - for the obvious reasons - some have already been outlined above.



The Philppines really doesnt have a lot to offer to white women - i mean there is the shopping in SM Asia mall maybe and the usual tourist sites - but compared to most other Asian countries that cater for female tourists - there is really not much in pi to come and see. A few days in Manila is just like any other big city around the world.



Here is an example - I was thinking that when i went to pi next time to see friends, that i would invite my sister along - her first time overseas - but when i think that for her to see the poverty, the pollution, the crime - not to mention some of the state of the hotels - especially in the provinces - really would be a culture shock to her.



White women would not come to pi unless they were accompanied by a male or if they came with a group of friends - or if they knew somebody in pi. And most white women stick to the main areas - the tourist areas and beach resorts - especially Boracay and areas as Manila. Even the first time i came to pi, was with a mate - even before i came i couldnt understand what the appeal was.



Most white women are pampered bitches. Sad - but true. Who if they were out of their comfort zone would die of shock - unfortunately its true. Men are different - men adapt really alot better to situations and different surroundings - men are alot more adventurous. And in the philppines - there is certainly alot of adventure during the day and the night



I am a white male - and there are some places in pi that i wouldnt dare to go - especially at night time. So you can imagine what it would be like for a white female, let alone most filipinas. How would a white woman go in pi with kids and mothers coming up to them asking for money? Or being in a car in manila with kids knocking on the windows wanting money?



But when i come to pi i dont expect 4 and 5 star hotels, and i dont expect to be waited on hand and foot and i dont come to pi for the shopping. I come to pi because i have my own family and friends in pi - and i love adventure and meeting people and experiencing different things. Being pampered and around other stupid white people - is the last thing that i want. I want to be around friendly people that are good decent people. These are things that alot of white women dont appreciate or understand.



There are alot more appealing things in pi for men - especially single men - than for single women or even married women. For men, there are alot of beautiful filipinas who want a man to take care of them and a family - and thats what appeals to men as well. White women are career driven and money driven. What is there for white women who already have careers back in their own countries and make alot more money than do most filipino men in pi?



The appeal of the Philipines is alot more than just sex and alot of beautiful filpinas running around. Its about perspective of the world.



Its sad - very sad - to say the things above. But thats the way the world is. I hate it. But its reality.

Are you Filipino? Because if you are, you should know. They're looking for a young Filipina wife. Back where they are from, they probably have a family. Especially them older ones. If not that, they could be hiding out from a shady past in this country. That's sometimes the case. But let's not generalize. Maybe these Caucasians with their skin pink from the tropical heat are just on vacation :]

No doubt that single american men come to the philippines due to the severe shortage of decent women in the west. The abomination of feminism in the west causes epidemic levels of divorce BY women, thus an oversupply of old divorced feminst hags, and huge demand for nice women, by men of all generations. Wine lovers vacation in France and California, where the best wines are found. Cigar lovers go to Cuba. Some guys go to the Philippines because of the women, the best in the world (along with Thai women).



We see western white women mostly in family vacation spots such as Bohol and Palawan, since they lack the 'nightlife scene' which is opposite to 'family vacation' themes.



Foriegn men also travel more to Philippines because it is too rustic and dangerous for foriegn women, same reason why men go scuba diving, camping and fishing more than women. The main tourist activities in the Philippines are scuba, snorkling, fishing, nightlife.. and these are more of manly activities than women's activities. If there were large, reputable, safe, and secure resort spas, or guided cruise line type excursion tours to the Philippines, we could expect more foriegn women to vacation in the Philippines.



Lots and lots of young single asian women, especially Japanese and Korean, vacation in huge flocks to places like Los Angeles/Hollywood, California or Orlando Florida .. and you don't see them at the nightclubs much, you see them at disneyland, disneyworld, zoo, museums, theaters, shopping, etc. You see a lot of families at these destinations also. You don't see many single asian men going to these destinations.



Vacationing in places like Philippines, along with fishing, camping and hunting... is a guy thing.



There seems to be a LOT more ASIAN Men who travel to the Philippines than ASIAN Women. Why is that?



ps: Philippines does not get many tourists at all, only about 3 million international visitors per year, and has almost no tourism to speak of, it is really not a tourist destination, but more like a place to visit other than main tourist destinations. This may help explain why it seems single guys seem to dominate the tourist industry.



Florida, a US state where tourism is the main industry, gets 83 million international and US tourists per years.



The population of Florida is about 18.5 million people.
