Sure, you can put them in your backpack as hand carry so as not to be damaged. Just declared them as used items which you wanted to bring home with you. But be sure not to use them while on the plane for they will damage the plane's frequency.

Yes and yes.

But take note that you'll be carrying around your laptop and PS3 for the whole duration of your trip, and that may cause inconvenience. If that's OK with you, then go by all means. However, to minimize the weight of your hand carried luggage, I do suggest the following:

1. Do NOT carry your PS3 as hand carried luggage. Rather, before you leave, combine all of your fragile stuff (PS3 and accessories included) in one luggage then at the counter, request that it be marked as "fragile" luggage then have it checked-in. The attendant will then put a red sticker with the "fragile" sign and then that luggage will be handled with extra care compared to other regular luggage.

You might think that this is a dangerous thing to do especially for electronics, but trust me these things can be subjected to slight bumps without damage. Imagine the distance that your PS3 traveled from the factory to your house.

Of course, add cushion for extra protection.

2. If you really want to hand carry your PS3, put all accessories in your check-in luggage i.e. carry only the body itself. You won't be playing with your PS3 during the trip anyway, that's for sure.

3. If you don't think that you'll be using your laptop for a long time, say for under 2 hours, check-in all laptop accessories including the charger and mouse. Just make sure you have a full battery charge before you go. You won't be plugging that in anyway. Personally I don't take my laptop out unless I'm flying business class. I just think it's a hassle.

Hope this helps.

Hey mokong

Yes, you are allow to bring electronic devices such as a PS3 and a Laptop in a backpack or any hand carry material.

But make sure you turn it off when takeoff and landing due to the fact it will cause frequency errors

Yeah of course!!! Every time I travel back to the Philippines or anywhere, I usually keep my expensive items such as laptops...etc in my hand carry items. I do this because I don't feel comfortable with other people handling my valuables.

The down side is when you have to go through x-rays and stuff it gets really annoying. Because you have to dig for your laptop and let them scan it separately. Then you have to quickly put it back in your bag so you won't hold up the line.

The downside with carrying PS3 and your laptop at the same time is that it becomes very heavy to carry. And your bag may run out of space to put anything else.

So my advice is to hand carry your laptop, wrap something soft around it so that it won't get damaged that much. For the PS3 I think it would be better if you packed that in your check in baggage. Its a bit too heavy for you to hand carry it.

Hope that helps!

Yeah its possible and most likely safer than having it checked in and have them search your stuff and take them. Most electronics are fine as a carry on. They just always check it before you bored the plane.

I have seen a lot of people using their laptop inside the aircraft. Most aircraft are equipped with socket where you could plug your laptop in case you need to recharge the battery. I guess the issue is when can you use it. Possibly during take-off and landing you will be advised to shut it down as it interferes with the Aircraft navigation system, this is also the same procedure with your mobiles or cellphones. Aside from landing and take-off time, you may use it througout the flight.

I've seen most kids playing either with their Ipod or PS3 inside the aircraft as well, there are no restrictions on this gadgets, their just like 'walkman' or a handy discplayer'.

There are still no restriction in both Dubai and Hongkong airport to hand carry laptop. They are a bit heavy though to be carried on a backpack, especially if you have stopovers. Like if you are flying with Cathay, going to the Philippines - stopover is in Hongkong, which normally takes 4 - 6 hours. So you'd be roaming around in Hongkong, looking for your departure gate (that normally is very far from the arrival gate) carrying that heavy stuff. That is the only inconvenience.
